Latin American Women’s
Aid y ConceptSur presentan esta exposición artística el jueves 6 de marzo en la
Printhouse Gallery de Londres.
A través de la fotografía y la pintura unidas, los artistas exploran
diferentes enfoques estéticos, documentales y conceptuales.
Su trabajo combina ideas de identidad, experiencias e imágenes de
realidades atravesadas, y en ese sentido resulta importante que sea conocido,
algo en lo cual pensaron quienes organizan esta muestra: Lawas, Manifestarte y
un grupo de artistas de Latinoamérica.
En el caso de Latin American Women’s Aid (LAWA), se trata de una ONG
dedicada a la defensa de las minorías étnicas, enfocada en dar servicio
especializado contra la violencia doméstica a mujeres y niños de la comunidad
latinoamericana en el Reino.
Cuentan con un centro de apoyo y asesoramiento y un refugio en el que
prestan ayuda a una comunidad que según LAWA “no para de crecer y siente que la
discriminación es su principal barrera para mejorar la calidad de vida”.
Más de 180 mil latinoamericanos viven en Reino Unido, de los cuales 113.500
residen en Londres.
En cuanto a ConceptSur (CSE), es una organización que crea oportunidades de
negocios para los pequeños productores, fue fundada en 2011 en Londres y su
foco principal es el desarrollo internacional. Su compromiso es trabajar con
artesanos y artistas, abriendo nuevas oportunidades de mercado para los grupos
creativos de América Latina y la comunidad latinoamericana en Reino Unido.
En el evento colabora ManifestaRte se trata de un colectivo independiente
de trabajadores del arte y la cultura en Guatemala, que trabaja para promover
el arte, acercándolo a la población excluida de la vida cultural y organizando
festivales anuales de arte y cultura en dicho país.

Latin American Women’s Aid and ConceptSur are presenting this art
exhibition on Thursday the 6thof March at the Printhouse Gallery in
London.
Through photography and painting combined, the artists explore different
aesthetic approaches, both documentary and conceptual.
Their work
combines ideas of identity, experiences and images of intersecting realities,
and for this it seems important that it is publicised, which was the opinion of
those who organised the show: LAWA, Manifestarte, and a group of artists from
Latin America.
Latin American
Women’s Aid (LAWA) is an NGO dedicated to the defence of ethnic
minorities, concentrating on giving specialised support in cases of domestic
violence against women and children in the Latin-American Community in the UK.
They have a support and counselling centre and a refuge in which they offer
help to the community which, according to LAWA “does not stop growing and it
seems that discrimination is the biggest barrier against improving the quality
of life”.
More than
180,000 Latin Americans live in the United Kingdom, of which 113.500 live in
London.
ConceptSur (CSE) is an organisation which creates business opportunities
for small producers, which was founded in 2011 in London, and its main focus is
international development. Its commitment is to work with craftspeople and
artists, opening new market opportunities for creative groups from Latin
America and the Latin American community in the United Kingdom.
Manifestarte,
which is also taking part in the event, is an independent collective of artists
and cultural workers in Guatemala. It works to promote art, bringing it closer
to parts of the population excluded from cultural life, and organises annual
art and culture festivals in Guatemala.
